Meet the team

Murray & Karen Grant - Directors

Murray is general manager of MacDirect. He leads the sales and promotion in particular, always looking for where Macrocarpa could be valued.  Karen with previous experience in sales was very involved in that area as MacDirect established itself. Murray And Karen live at Clarks Beach 10 minutes from Patumahoe. With 6 adult children in their combined family they think they have all left home!  After 20 years sheep and cattle farming in Northland, Murray tried a new challenge in sawmilling.  When not at the Sawmill Murray enjoys a round of golf or getting out on the water. It is great to  spend time catching up with family especially their 7 little grandchildren. Murray and Karen are very involved with the local church.  

Jo Rusher - Office Manager

Jo lives with her husband Tom and two adult sons on a lifestyle block just 5 minutes from the mill. Jos big passion is animals and their welfare. Her 3 obese steers, 2 dogs and ?? cats  plus stray ducklings, cows, rabbits have her undivided attention.
Jo brings to the team 20 + years of administration knowledge.  She has been part of our team for over 7 years and also provides assistance with quoting and sales. Of course being the only female on site she has a much needed different perspective to your average sawmiller. 

Martin Sayer - Operations Manager

Martin lives with wife Nicolette and 4 children, the oldest a teenager, lives in Pukekohe. Martin worked for MacDirect in Whangarei and was persuaded by Murray to bring his family down to Pukekohe. He has been  production manager since that time.

Martin worked in horticulture, in teaching/training,and in logging before coming to the sawmill.

A keen sportsman,he manages to fit in  hockey  around a busy family life. He and Nicolette have rejoined the motorcycling fraternity with a road bike each to cruise on. (or demonstrate against ACC levies)
