We believe high grade Macrocarpa has a significant and growing contribution to offer the home building industry both in NZ and overseas.

Murray and Karen Grant began the business in Whangarei in 1993 with a specially imported horizontal bandsaw.  They soon realised the commercial potential for Macrocarpa when it was graded and sawn to a consistent standard.  With demand increasing rapidly, a larger sawmill was purchased in Patumahoe, Franklin in 2003.

Today MacDirect would be the largest supplier of building grade Macrocarpa in the North Island.

Additional to the sawmill there are onsite; dry sheds, a dehumidifier/Kiln, and a modern molder/4 sider. 

90% of MacDirect log is sourced from plantation grown Cypress, which enables production of the highest quality graded timber.

 MacDirect has a dedicated team of workers and the key personal have been with Murray and Karen for several years.

This includes, Operations Manager Martin Sayer, who schedules production,  deliveries and assists with sales and Office Manager Jo Rusher, who handles accounting, administration and sales.
