Experience and Support Matters

MacDirect has been working to supply cypress/macrocarpa timber to the NZ market for over 30 years. Led by our fearless leader, Murray Grant, MacDirect has supplied timber to 1000s of projects nationwide. We've even sent timber to the Pacific Islands and Australia. We've been here long enough to understand Mac, it's use in NZ climates and the difference between a good log and a bad one.

Cape Kidnappers is a prominent project MacDirect supplied almost 20 years ago.

30 years of supply gives us a unique position in the market. We know the homes we have supplied and the state they are in. We can actually see how our timber works and advise our customers on the best practice. We have used this experience, the trials and errors, and worked with architects and builders who are committed to the use of natural timber, to discover "best practice" for cypress timbers.

When our customers come to us, most have very little knowledge of the products we supply and we enjoy sharing our wealth of experience with them. But primarily what we offer is the "guarantee" of working with us and using MacDirect mac.

MacDirect's supply is based on best practice for timber use in the industry and adheres to the New Zealand Standards for grading, durability and application. We work alongside builders and architects to advise on the best use, so their customers get to dream big and have their ideas supported. This is backed by 30 years of experience of installation of timbers across 1000s of projects nationwide...

Our Commitment:

1. MacDirect use NZ Standards as our warranty guideline for application, and we work with expert practitioners to ensure full compliance of your build.

2. MacDirect offer after sales support and care advice for our customers including installation best practice.

3. MacDirect provide a producer's statement to help support the use of products with councils.

4. We are committed to working with Branz , Scion (forestry research) and other organisations to improve the knowledge and supply of MacDirect Mac to kiwi home owners.

The last point, and we think this is an important one. We are a producer, not just a "middleman". MacDirect is at heart a sawmill. We purchase logs, mill them and work with customers on the application. We offer our customers the opportunity to visit our mill and see the products being produced and, in some cases, see their products being cut. This approach is customer led and driven by a desire for all of us at MacDirect to share the story of Mac/Cypress timbers and the significant change to the quality of the Mac we supply. No longer do we supply downgrade shelter belt logs, but timber that will match any product on the market.

Building fully natural is still an option. This framing going into a "Green School" building in Hamilton, is a wonderful commitment to sustainable building.

Mac/cypress has been used in the building on homes in New Zealand for over 100 years and we are excited to continue this tradition.
