Winter has come again with mud, rain, not to mention economic and world turmoil.... Is it all doom and gloom? We at MacDirect don't think so! We are bucking the trend with spring around the corner with a lift in sales in the last 4-5 months... and we are preparing for an amazing summer! we can’t wait!! But there’s a reason for this growth and warmer horizon's... No not climate change, but rather some cool product developments and some customer support tools and as always, our stunning mac!

The main driver in increased sales has been our cladding.  We have seen an ever-increasing popularity in MacDirect cladding. Its visual appeal, durability, and the quality of timber we can produce from top grade plantation trees seems to have got around with many architects specifying MacDirect cladding.

And we are excited to announce we are now a “Masterspec Partner”. This is a great architectural tool that provides all necessary code of compliance documentation.

First supplying cladding over 30 years ago, I recently caught up with a homeowner who clad his house with lusitanica (mac) 30 years ago, without any protective coating. It is still there with no replacement boards necessary today.

While Mac is fine being left uncoated, we do encourage our customers to coat with quality wood oil as added protection to give it some extra love and care and thanks to our partners we can coat this for you.

Our “in-house “stress tested SG8 framing has been used by those owners who want to negate any chemical use where possible in their build. And we are excited to be able to supply pre-nailed framing and trusses to order.

Plus, in collaboration with a major timber laminator we supply large piece size mac laminated beams, band sawn, D4S or sanded. With cypress timber costs slightly above chemically treated timbers both the builders and homeowners still feel it is worth the extra.

Scott manages the day-to-day MacDirect issues but still interrupts my semi-retirement especially with the new development we are presently going through to lift capacity and savings to meet market requirements. That has become what I am responsible for which I enjoy as is another step in the original vision I had for MacDirect many years ago.
